Carol A. Robertson, age 89, of Forrest City, Arkansas, died December 4, 2023, at his home.
He was born, July 21, 1934, in the Hillemann community of Woodruff County, Arkansas, to Cary A. and Verlon Fowler Robertson. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Mr. Robertson never met a stranger, which was why he was so well-suited for a lifelong career in sales. He was co-owner of R & B Tobacco Company in Forrest City, and later held various positions in route sales with Toms Foods and Pancho’s.
He served as worship music leader and in other positions at Bethel Baptist Church for many years. More recently, he was a member of Caldwell Baptist Church, where he cherished the title of “Gravy Chef” bestowed upon him at the men’s breakfasts.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 63 years, Nona Morton Robertson of Forrest City; a brother, Ottis Robertson of Memphis, Tennessee; and a son-in-law, William Vinson of Forrest City.
Survivors include three daughters, Brenda Robertson Kocher, and husband, Greg, of Lexington, Kentucky; Kathy Robertson Clark, and husband, Barry, of Wynne; and Rebecca Robertson Vinson and Randale Hicks, of Wynne; one granddaughter, Erin Vinson Powell, and husband, John Richard of Nashville, Tennessee; one great-granddaughter, Eden Powell of Nashville; three nieces, Donna Robertson of Rogers; Denise Morton Murray, and husband, Charles, of Point Pleasant, West Virginia; Dorene Morton Hughes, and husband, Bobby, of Hartsville, South Carolina; and one nephew, Michael Morton Torres, and wife, Tracy, of Atlanta, Georgia.
The family wishes to thank Elite Hospice; Dee Michaelis; his wonderful caregivers, Louise Williams, Oveta Trail and Jeana Wilson; and special friends, Wayne Speer, Bernar Evans, Lloyd Taylor and Frank Killingsworth.
Graveside services for Mr. Robertson will be held Friday, December 8, at 2:00 p.m., in the Loughridge Cemetery at Colt.
