Charles J. Ward, 85, of Oran, Missouri, formerly of Colt, went to be with his beloved wife, Carol, Saturday, January 29, 2022, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri with his daughters by his side. He was born September 26, 1936 in Bruce Florida, the son of Ollie and Elisabeth Wright Ward.
Mr. Ward, was drafted into the US Army and Served in the 21st Infantry Regiment APO 24 from December 1956 through October 1957. Charles was a small vehicle driver, driving the Kim Sisters around for the USO shows, while they were in Korea. After returning from service, he married Miss Margaret Forristal in 1958, the reunion resulted in two daughters. He worked for the Yale company as an assembler until retiring. He married Virginia Carol Key Lilly in March of 1979. Charles was a member of the Muscogee Nation of Florida, Colt City Council and the Daniel Deer Camp for 20 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, watching westerns, gardening and sharing the garden produce with family and friends. Charles will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, wives: Margaret Ward and Carol Ward, five brothers: Monroe Ward, J.E, Ward, Bo Ward, Jesse Ward, John Ward and one sister: Dovie Lou Fannin.
Survivors include five daughters: Norma (Brad) Halford of Oran, MO, Cathleen Donohue of Dexter, Mo, Veronica Larson of Stoughton, WI, Rebecca Lilly of Little Rock, Amanda Lilly of Colt, one son: Gene Lilly of Colt, one sister: Hazel Evans of Freeport, FL, twenty grandchildren and twenty-five great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at the Colt Baptist Church Friday, February 4, 2022 from 1 until service time. Funeral service will begin at 2:00 at the church. Burial will follow service in Loughridge Cemetery with Military Honors.
