Deborah Kaye Murphy of Cherry Valley passed away on Sunday, September 12th in Jonesboro at the age of 67. She was born on July 27, 1954 in Harrisburg to Mr. Edward Owen Hickman and Virginia “Moore” Hickman. Deborah married Mr. Michael Murphy on November 19, 1971.
Deborah was a member of the Harrisburg First Assembly of God Church and was very strong in her faith. While going through her illness she always kept her faith in God and stayed upbeat. She once traveled as a missionary to Shiprock, New Mexico to help the Navajo tribe providing water, diapers, baby formula and anything else that was needed for those living there. She even enjoyed buying some of their jewelry. Deborah liked being around people, she was a great listener & prayer warrior, enjoyed helping at Parker Homestead and loved to shop. She loved her family most of all, especially spending time with her grandchildren.

Deborah is survived by her husband of 49 years: Mike Murphy of the home, one son: Michael Murphy of Memphis, TN, one daughter: Rachael ”Gina” Oberg and husband Don of Harrisburg, four sisters: Ann Taylor of Mt. Home, Teresa Price and husband Larry of Bakersville, MO, Ella Shaw and husband Bubba of LaVaca, AR, Beverly Bales of Bakersville, MO, six grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and numerous other relatives & friends.
A Celebration of Life Service, will be held, Saturday, October 2, starting at Noon with a potluck meal, at the Harrisburg First Assembly of God Church.
