Don Childers of Wynne passed away, Thursday, January 26, 2023 at the age of 72. He was born on August 10, 1950 in Wynne to Robert Veto and Agnes “Pauline” Banton Childers.
Don was drafted in the Army after high school and served from 1970 until 1971 in the Vietnam war. He made friends while there, but one he remained in touch with for many years. After returning home he enjoyed being in car and RV sales in several different locations. Don also was a very good residential carpenter from building to renovations. Don and his wife enjoyed traveling, trout fishing and playing cards with friends. They even traveled to California once to attend a football game that their teams were playing against each other. Don also liked playing board games and going to Oaklawn in Hot Springs. He was a wonderful father and grandfather and always looked forward to spending time them and other family members including his nieces and nephews who thought he was the BEST.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son: Dale Kurtz, Jr., one daughter: Charlene Loftin, two brothers: Dewey and Joe Childers, one sister: Bobbie Childers Canter, and one great granddaughter: Kamari Coleman.
Don is survived by; his wife: Pam Childers of the home, two sons: Tommy Childers and wife Leah of Olive Branch, MS, Derek Childers and wife Amanda of Monroe, LA, two daughters; Lynn Leininger and husband Mike of Olive Branch, MS, Shellie Cissell and husband Jerry of Wynne, AR, one brother: Giles Childers of Jonesboro, AR, one sister: Betty Holt of Brookport, IL, 14 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and two on the way.
Visitation for Mr. Childers will be Monday, January 30, 2023 at Wynne Church of God at 1:00 p.m. The funeral service will follow visitation at 2:00 p.m., burial with military honors will be in Akin Cemetery in Vanndalle.
