Edward Thomas Deason, 92, a resident of Colt, Arkansas, departed this life, Tuesday, August 3, 2021, in Forrest City. He was born on October 13, 1928, in Tilton, the son of George W. and Maude Casey Deason.
Mr. Deason attended school in Hickory Ridge before becoming a farm hand at the age of 16. He joined the U.S. Army in April of 1948, where he would serve for the next 24 years. Edward served during the Korean War earning a Bronze Star Medal, 5 bronze service stars. Upon reenlisting he served as a switchboard operator for the next couple of years in Fort Hood Texas. Edward soon became a lineman and serviced overseas for another 2 plus years. After being stationed in Germany he was sent to Vietnam, where he earned another 4 Bronze Service Stars. He retired from Military service in 1972 and returned to Cross County. Edward was a very kind and caring man, always ready to help someone in need. He was known to hand out bubble gum to many of the businesses he did business with and always to his grandchildren. He supported many charities, especially children’s charities.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers; Burnis Calvin Deason and Howard G. Deason and one son; Kenneth Deason.
He is survived by two sons: Thomas Deason, Sr. and wife Deborah of Cherry Valley, Donnie Deason of Wynne, five grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Full Military Honors will be held for Edward at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 9th at the Arkansas State Veteran Cemetery @ Birdeye.
