Edwin Eugene Loyd, 66, a resident of Columbus, Mississippi, departed this life, Friday, January 16, 2026, at the Baptist Hospital in Columbus. He was born, July 11, 1959, in St. Louis Missouri, the son of Harold David and Leola Catherine Chestnut Loyd.
Edwin worked at Tuscaloosa Farmer’s Co-Op in Northport, AL for most of his adult life, retiring two years ago to become full time caregiver to Justin. He was a very selfless man who loved his sons, Johnathan and Justin with his whole heart. Raising them, caring for them and being the best Dad, he knew how to be was his life purpose. Edwin was an excellent cook; he enjoyed cooking for his family and sitting around his Momma’s table with a big glass of iced tea visiting with family. When he was younger and time allowed hunting and fishing were his hobbies.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Harold and Leola Loyd.
Edwin is survived by his sons; Johnathan and Justin Loyd, both of Columbus, Mississippi, two brothers; Darwin (Bertha) Loyd of Cordova, Tennessee, Danny(Kelly) Loyd of Columbus, Mississippi; one sister, Felicia (Bruce) Gregory of Virginia, aunt Brenda (Howard) Coley of Wynne, Arkansas, his nieces and nephews and many loved cousins and other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held at the Three Trees Cowboy Church, Sunday, February 1, 2026, from 2 until 4:00 p.m. in the Kids Barn.
