Ethel Louise Sherrill, 75, a resident of Colt, departed this life, Monday, September 15, 2025, at the NEA Hospital in Jonesboro. She was born, December 6, 1949, in Monroe County, the daughter of Rufus Marion and Olive Boone Holloway. She married Mr. David Henry Sherrill on June 19, 1981.
Ethel was a high school graduate and a stay-at-home mom; she home schooled Christopher from the 3rd grade through the 12th. She enjoyed flower gardening and taking care of her family. She was a loving and caring wife, mother and friend. It has been said that “she had to be a Saint to put up with her husband David”.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Rufus and Olive Holloway, daughter: Emily Collier, three brothers: Marion Holloway, Walter Holloway, Randy Holloway, three sisters: Mariann Thompson, Betty Davis and Judy Holloway.
Survivors include her husband of forty-four years: David Sherrill of the home, two sons: Robert Lee Sherrill and his wife Patricia of Dyess, Christopher Sherrill of Jonesboro, two daughters: Tamara Dickerson of Twin Falls Idaho, Tena Sherrill of Memphis, Tennessee, one sister: Ollie Dillier of Heber Springs, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
In accordance with Ethel’s wishes, there will be no formal services. The family kindly requests that you take a moment to remember Ethel in your own way.
