Gary Wayne Lloyd, 79, a resident of Colt, formerly of Wynne, Arkansas, passed away on Friday, August 4, with his best friend and caregiver, Deborah Dover of 13 years by his side. Mr. Lloyd was born on July 6, 1944, in Wynne, Arkansas, to the late Delmer Bowen and Vera Mae (Carter) Lloyd.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife; Mary Ellen, sisters; Bobbie Day and Norma Jane Caldwell, and his daughter-in-law; Mary Margaret Lloyd.
Gary graduated from Wynne High School in 1962 and made a career and many friends working for CenterPoint Energy, where he worked for 33-1/2 years. Mr. Lloyd retired as a Captain in the Wynne Fire Department where he worked from 1983 until 1992. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, and enjoyed a good fish fry while drinking a beer with family and friends. He also enjoyed a great poker game on the weekends.
Mr. Lloyd is survived by his best friend; Deb, four children; Bruce Lloyd of West Memphis, Gary Don Lloyd of Pine Bluff, Jennifer Milton and husband Gene of Colt, Martin Lloyd and wife Christie of Wynne, four grandchildren; Courtney, Hannah, Mary Claire, Cody and wife Autumn, one bonus grandson Cain, one great-grandson; Braxton, and a host of family and friends.
A special thanks to the wonderful staff at Elite Hospice including his aide Ebony whom he adored.
The Lloyd family honored his wishes to be cremated and will announce a celebration of life at future date.
