George Washington Morris, Jr.,71, a resident of Wynne, departed this life, Sunday, July 10, 2022, at CrossRidge Community Hospital. He was born September 23, 1950, in Rushville, Indiana the son of George and Wandalee Downs Morris.
George worked as a residential carpenter for himself and with his brother, building many homes in Memphis over the years. He enjoyed watching Gunsmoke, Andy Griffith, In the Heat of the Night on TV, and was a big Memphis Grizzlies fan. George was known as the family comedian, he loved making others laugh with his jokes and fast wit. He loved his family, whom have fond memories and laughter to remember him by. He will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters: Carolyn Burkes, Kay Carpenter and Kathy Morris.
Survivors include one son: Toma Morris of California, two brothers: Jimmy Morris of West Helena, Richard Morris and wife Mary of Booneville Mississippi, two sisters: Mary Wiley of Wynne and Penny Morris of Wynne and one granddaughter: Penelope Morris of California.
Visitation will be held Friday, July 15, from 12:00 until 1:30 p.m. at the Wynne Church of Christ. Graveside services will follow at 2:00 p.m. in Cogbill Cemetery.
