Gilbert Firman “Gil” Fowler, Jr., departed this life, Saturday, July 19, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born, April 3, 1956, in Memphis, Tennessee, the son of Billy and Corrine Winningham Franks. Gil married Ms. Angie Butler on July 14, 2017.
Gil worked for McCool Gas Company, was a welder and a land surveyor. He enjoyed spending time in his swing, being outdoors, fishing, gardening, playing horseshoes and telling jokes. He was a big jokester but was very giving and would help anyone in need. Gil loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren and his fur babies.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Billy and Corrine Franks, one sister: Shaira Hall and his fur baby: Stormy.
He is survived by his wife of seven years: Angie Fowler of the home, four sons: Gilbert Fowler, III and his wife Andrea of Wynne, Jason Fowler and Eva Epps of Wynne, Tanner Butler of Wynne, Kyle Butler and wife Sarah of Palestine, one daughter: Nicole Fowler and DeAngelo Aldridge of Colt, one sister: Deborah Cummings of Colt, seven grandchildren: Nay Shawn Warren, Nikkory Warren, Denali Aldridge, Kylie Butler, K J Butler, Landon Butler and Levi Butler, and two fur babies: Thunder and Sissy, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 12:00 noon at the Union Avenue Baptist Church in Wynne with Rev. Ray Dean Davis officiating, burial following in Cogbill Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the services starting at 11:00 a.m. at the church.
