Gladys Geneva (Ragan) Huffman

Gladys Geneva Huffman of Cherry Valley passed away on Sunday, October 18, in Wynne at the age of 86.

She was born September 19, 1934 in Vanndale, AR to Levi John and Alma Margaret “Ragan” McGarrity.

Gladys and her late husband; Freddie owned and operated Huffman’s Grocery & Fish House in Cherry Valley for many years. Anyone that knew Gladys, knew she was active in several organizations such as being a 4H leader, participating in the county extension office helping others in learning to budget & cook. She was kind hearted & outgoing always willing to help others whenever she could. Mrs. Huffman had quite a few hobbies like sewing, crafting, cake decorating, baking, & quilting. She was very social and enjoyed being around friends and especially spending as much time with her family as possible.

Mrs. Huffman was preceded in death by her parents: Levi and Alma McGarrity, husband: Freddie Ray Huffman, and a sister: Alma McGarrity.

 Gladys is survived by one son: John Huffman and wife Janie of Cherry Valley, one daughter: Freda Sanders and husband Tommy of Cherry Valley, 4 brothers: J. L. McGarrity of Missouri, S.M. McGarrity of Georgia, Aaron McGarrity of Missouri, Gene McGarrity of Missouri, 4 sisters: Bertha Elliott of McCrory, Fannie Tucker of Missouri, Betty Porter of Missouri, Lilly McGarrity of Blytheville, AR, 11 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

Visitation for Mrs. Gladys will be Wednesday, October 21, at 12:00 p.m. at Sharpe’s Chapel Church of God in Vanndale. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. after visitation. Burial will follow in Akin Cemetery.
