Glenn Edwin Nicholson

Glenn Edwin Nicholson, 78, a resident of Cherry Valley, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Wednesday, July 1 st, 2026, in Jonesboro. He was born May 16, 1948, in Forrest City, the son of Ray Booker Nicholson and Elizabeth Jane Penrose Nicholson. He married Miss Pauline Vaughn on April 14, 1972. He was a minister for many years at several Baptist churches, including Parkin Baptist, and was a missionary to Panama. Glenn was also a Disaster

Relief Chaplain, an Adjunct professor, and did prison ministry at the Forrest City Federal Prison. He received his minister’s license in 1969, a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from ASU in 1970, and his master’s degree from Southwestern Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, in May of 1974. He was ordained at the Cotter Baptist Church in June of 1974. He received his PhD in May of 2005 from Asbury Theological Seminary in Kentucky and then returned to ASU to earn his Bachelor of Science in Education in May of 2015.

Besides the constant need to educate himself, Glenn enjoyed reading, adding to his library, working on jigsaw puzzles, and spending time with his grandson, Andrew. He was introspective and stoic but compassionate and caring. To his family, he was strict but loving.

Glenn was preceded in death by his father, Ray Nicholson; mother, Elizabeth Nicholson King; two brothers, Dennis Nicholson and James Nicholson; and one son, Jonathan Andrew Nicholson. 

Survivors include his wife of fifty-four years, Pauline Nicholson; one son, Nathan Nicholson of Cherry Valley; one daughter, Jennifer Smith and Michael McMaster of Wynne; only grandson,

Andrew Martinez, and a host of other family members and friends.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 7, from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service starts 11:00 a.m. at the Cherry Valley Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Tyer Cemetery in Cherry Valley.
