Gregory Weld Obituary

Gregory John Weld, 70, a resident of Forrest City, departed this life, Monday, March 6, 2023, in Memphis, Tennessee.  He was born on February 12, 1953, in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Elmer and Joann Abbott Weld. He married Miss Laura Ann Burg on November 7, 1986.

Greg was a 1971 graduate of Bentley High School in Michigan; he received his Associate Degree from Lansing Community College. He worked as a Technical Writer for the automotive industry for many years. He wrote a book on the history of the transaxle. He was a practical, conservative and patriotic person who was sweet, caring and a laid-back, easy-going man. Greg loved to work with his hands and could fix or build anything, and was a child of the sixties, enjoying the music of the sixties, especially Bob Dilan, riding motorcycles, bird watching and making wind chimes.

Greg loved his family and will be missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Elmer and Joann Weld.

Survivors include his wife of thirty-six years: Laura Ann Weld of the home, two sons: Aaron Weld and wife Ruth of New Bern, North Carolina, Matthew Weld and wife Jordan of Naples, Florida, two daughter: Ann Chestnut of Charlotte, North Carolina, Hallah Weld of East Jordan, Michigan, one brother: Brad Weld of Petoskey, Michigan, four sisters: Cynthia VanBelle of Howell, Michigan, Terese Weld-Wallis of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Diane Gracy of Harbor Springs, Michigan, Jenny McCullen of South Lyons, Michigan, five grandchildren and one more on the way.

No services will be held at this time, the family will have a memorial service at a later date.

Cross County Funeral Service & Crematory was honored with handling the arrangements for the Weld family.
