James “Jim” Levi Burnett passed away Friday, November 13, in McCrory, at his home at the age of 76.
He was born on August 18, 1944, in Hickory Ridge, to James Elbert and Dovie Dora Mae “Odom” Burnett.
Jim served in the US Army during the Viet Nam War, was an over the road truck driver for about 25 years. He drove most recently for Larry Smith Trucking, but also drove a lot for other companies. Jim enjoyed his truck driving days. He sold Kirby Vacuum Cleaners between trucking jobs and loved to sing and play his guitar.
Mr. Burnett was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter; Angela Burnett, 3 brothers; John, Elbert, J.L. Burnett, 3 sisters; Bonnie Elgen, Mattie Young and Mary Martin.
Jim is survived by his significant other; Joyce McGuire of McCrory, 2 sons; Ronald Burnett and wife Phyllis of Louisville, KY, James Burnett and wife Bernice of Redland, CA, 2 daughters; Victoria Burnett Belleza and husband Alex of Louisville, KY, Jamie Burnett Bailey of Searcy, Arkansas, numerous grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, one brother; Billy Burnett of Hephzibah, GA, two sisters; Betty Creasey of Tumbling Shoals and Patsy Mooney of Drasco.
