James "Jimmy" Dee Helms, 83, a resident of Vanndale, departed this life, Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at home surrounded by his family. He was born, January 24, 1942, in Memphis, Tennessee, the son of Maurice King and Winifred Joan Snedden.
He served in the US Marines from 1961 thru 1964, stationed in Camp Lejeune for most of his service with a stint in Porto Rico. James loved being a Marine and was very proud of his service. He became an avid marksman, winning many trophies in skeet shooting competitions. He owned and operated H & H contractor, with his brother doing custom home framing. James enjoyed fishing, hunting, collecting stamps and coins, watching wildlife and he loved being around animals. James lived his life to the fullest and enjoyed being with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother: William J. Helms.
Survivors include his two daughters: Jamie Moore and her husband Jim of Wynne, Tina Hunter and her husband Kyle of Whitehall, three grandchildren: Dakota Moore, Josh Rose, Aaron Hunter, two great-grandchildren: Gunner Rose, Adler Hunter and a host of other relatives and friends.
James will be cremated and then buried in a private service at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery at Birdeye with Military Honors.
