James “Richard” Jolly, 77, a resident of Colt, departed this life, Friday, May 27, 2022, in Jonesboro. He was born, July 21, 1944, in Forrest City the son of Julius Holmes Jolly, II and Velma Louise Ellis Jolly.
Richard is a 1962 graduate of Forrest City High School; he then was drafted into the U.S. Army where he served during the Viet Nam War. After serving his country he went to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, later becoming AT & T, for 40 years. Richard enjoyed working with his hands, always working on something. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and a very simple man. He enjoyed coin collecting, vegetable gardening, squirrel hunting, fishing, working on cars, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother: Jay Jolly, and one sister: Barbara Jolly.
Survivors include his three sons: Phillip Jolly and wife Karyn of Katy, Texas, James Jolly of Houston, Texas and Stephen Jolly of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and two granddaughters.
A visitation will be held, Friday, June 3, 2022 from 1:00 till 3:00 p.m. at the Pine Tree Baptist Church.
