James Powell, Jr.

Mr. James Powell, Jr., 63, a resident of Lexa, departed this life, Saturday, January 29, 2022, at home with his family by his side.  He was born July 26, 1958, in Vineyard, Arkansas the son of James, Sr. and Catherine Curtis Powell.

Nuck grew up in the Rondo area, working on several farms as a farm hand, he was a hard worker. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. He shared the fruits of his labor with many family members and friends with fresh vegetables.  James spent his life helping many people in Rondo with anything they needed help with. He was a very giving person and will be missed by all who knew him.

James was preceded in death by his parents, one son: James Louis Powell, one brother; David Hatten and two sisters; Monique Johnson, and Doris Ann Hall.

Survivors include: one son: Eric Powell of Rondo, one daughter: Jamie Powell and Fiancée; David Hill of Marianna, two brothers; Larry Hall and wife Ada of Marianna, Freddie Powell of Rondo and three grandchildren; Erica Powell, Carter Powell and Terica Powell, special niece: Robbie Redden who cared for him until his death.

The family sends out a special thank you to the Elite Hospice team for the great care Mr. Powell received while in their care.

Mr. Powell will be cremated according to the family’s wishes; no services will be held at this time.
