James “Jimmy” Everett Clegg, 73, a resident of Colt, departed this life, Monday, March 18, 2024, in Jonesboro, with his family by his side. He was born, July 12, 1950, in Wynne, the son of Everett Oliver and Helen Irene (Luker) Clegg.
Jimmy was a graduate of Forrest City High School and worked as a long-haul truck driver for many years. He enjoyed the outdoors, traveling, watching TV, and having a good time. He had a great memory, never forgetting birthdays and never meeting a stranger. It has been said that “Jimmy was not a tall man, but if you ever met him, he had a 10-foot-tall presence!” He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Everett and Helen Clegg, mother of his children; Donna O’Bryant, one son; Jason Clegg, one brother: Danny Clegg and one sister; Patricia Ball.
Survivors include two daughters; Kim Hutchinson and husband Mark of Niagara Falls, New York, Jamie Chafin and husband Shawn of Niagara Falls, New York, two sons; Marc Clegg of Odessa, Texas, Sydney Curry of Marianna, two brothers; Ronnie (Sheila) Clegg of Wynne, David (Katie) Clegg of Jonesboro, three sisters; Judy (Ray) Hooker of Palestine, Susie (Dennis) Mashburn of Jonesboro, Sharon (Joe) Houston of Castroville, Texas, sister-in-law: Rosie Clegg of Searcy, two special aunts; Dolly Boone and Mary “Cricket” Owens, and seven grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 21, in Lindsey Cemetery in Forrest City. No visitation will be held.
