Jimmy “JD” Dewayne Mathis, 44, a resident of Wynne, departed this life, Sunday, June 16, 2024, in Walnut Ridge. He was born, June 12, 1980, in Forrest City, the son of Troy Virgil, Jr. and Deborah Elaine Peevey Mathis.
He was a 1999 graduate of Wynne High School and then attended ASU-Beebe, studying criminal justice before working as a substitute teacher in Wynne. He was a protective older brother and loved to aggravate others in fun. JD enjoyed watching movies, drawing, comic books, and collectibles. He was very outgoing and never met a stranger. He loved his dogs and adored his niece.
He was preceded in death by his father: Troy Virgil Mathis, Jr.
JD is survived by his mother: Deborah Mathis of Wynne, grandmother: Mary “Cricket” Owens of Wynne, one sister: Barbara Ramsey and her husband Michael of Wynne, niece: Amara Nolasco, and two dogs: Dianna & Jager.
A memorial service will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 21, at the Woodard Funeral Home Chapel.
