Jo Ellen Butcher, 66, a resident of Wynne, departed this life, Thursday, February 26, 2026, in Jonesboro. She was born, May 16, 1959, in Alexandria, Louisiana, the daughter of George Clinton and Eleinore Elizabeth (Gray) Fleming.
Jo Ellen was a proud member of the Ripley, Mississippi High School graduating class of 1978. She went on to dedicate much of her professional life to serving others as a nursing home administrator in Ripley, Mississippi, demonstrating compassion and commitment throughout her career. Growing up in a military family, Jo Ellen experienced life in various locations around the world, including time spent in Japan. These formative years instilled in her a sense of adaptability and openness to new experiences. During her youth, she participated in the Girl Scouts, a tradition she continued by supporting her daughter’s involvement in the organization. Jo Ellen was known for her dry sense of humor, which brought smiles to those around her. She enjoyed a variety of hobbies, including sewing, crocheting, quilting, and rafting. In addition, she was an avid reader, always eager to explore new stories and ideas. Above all, Jo Ellen considered raising her only child, Megan, to be her greatest accomplishment and source of pride.
She was preceded in death by her parents: George and Eleinore Fleming and one grandchild: Payne Pannell.
Jo is survived by her daughter: Megan Pannell and wife Beth King, two sisters: Cheryl Fleming of Point Pilot, Texas, Sandii Fleming of Grand Saline, Texas and one grandson: Jacob Pannell of Wynne and a host of other relatives and friends.
In accordance with Jo Ellen’s wishes, there will be no formal services. The family kindly requests that you take a moment to remember Jo Ellen in your own way.
