Leola "Kitty" Catherine (Chestnut) Loyd

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kitty Loyd (84), beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend who left us on Oct. 31, 2023.

Kitty was born in Grubbs, Arkansas on Jan. 21, 1939 to Walker and Ruby Chestnut. She attended school in Grubbs. On Jan. 1, 1957, Kitty wed the love of her life, Harold David Loyd of Vanndale. Harold preceded Kitty in death in 1998. She is survived by their children, Darwin Loyd (Bertha), Edwin Loyd, Felicia Gregory (Bruce), Danny Loyd (Kelly); grandchildren, Heather, Melissa, Collin, Rylinn, Alanna, Johnathan and Justin, Gayle, David, her beloved sister Brenda Coley, ten great-grandchildren and many special nieces and nephews. She is also preceded in death by her brother, Ray Chestnut and grandson, Jacob. 

Kitty exemplified a Proverbs 31 woman. She was of noble character, patient, diligent, generous, courageous, wise, and devoted to all she loved. She loved with her whole heart even through all of her trials with Alzheimer’s, she was concerned about those she loved and never forgot her husband’s name. 

A graveside service will be held to honor Kitty 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at Crosslawn Cemetery in Wynne, Arkansas with her nephew, Rev. Marvin Loyd officiating. 

The family would like to thank W.J. Smith and Sons Funeral Home in Newport News, Va and Cross County Funeral Services in Wynne, Arkansas for helping us with arrangements.  Memorial contributions may be made to Immanuel Baptist Church 69 Saunders Rd. Newport News, Va or the Alzheimer’s Association.
