Linda Mae (Adams) Spencer

Linda Mae Spencer, 87, departed this life, Saturday, January 3, 2026. She was born on May 19, 1938, to Carl Vester and Bobbie Lee Johnston Adams.

Linda was a 1956 graduate of Earle High School, where she was a star basketball player. In 1957 she finally snagged her 5th grade sweetheart and the love of her life, Verlon Spencer, Sr. They were married for 65 years and had two children Verinda and a son Verlon, Jr.

Linda’s career life consisted of owning a Merle Norman Cosmetic Studio for 40 years, a real estate agent in the Jonesboro area for 20 years and a Cotton Grader for several cotton companies.

However, her greatest roles in life were being Daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Linda was preceded in death by her husband: Verlon, Spencer, Sr., parents: Carl and Bobbie Adams, three brothers: Clinton Adams, Harold Adams, Clifton Adams, two sisters: Wyveda Hupp and Patricia Larson. She has left behind her two children Verinda Johnson and Verlon Spencer, Jr. (Sherry), four grandchildren, Linleigh King, Jordan Johnson, Trey Spencer (Charli), Cade Spencer (Emily), six great-grandchildren Ryleigh, Malachi, JayShawn, Hadley, Kenli, Emmri, Wren due in February.

Linda touched the lives of all those she came in contact with and was loved by many. She maybe gone from those who loved and cared deeply for, but she will never be forgotten. Her light will continue to shine and be the guiding light for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Saturday, January 10th, from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. at the Wynne Church of Christ. Memorial service will begin at 11:00 a.m. at the church, inurnment will follow in Pinelog Cemetery in Brookland.
