Mary Arrena Spivey, 81, a resident of Forrest City, departed this life, Saturday, April 4, 2026, in Wynne. She was born, November 17, 1944, in Colt, Arkansas, the daughter of Virgil Grant Brown and Mary Olive Gunter Brown. She married Mr. Robert Michael Spivey, Sr. on November 27, 1963.
Mary graduated from Forrest City High School in 1962. Following her graduation, she began her career as a secretary, working for several companies over the years. Among her employers was McDonald/Douglas, where she dedicated a decade of service. Later, Mary joined her husband in their business, M & M Construction, where they specialized in hanging wallpaper and painting until their retirement. Mary was known for her exceptional organization, intelligence, and outgoing personality. She was friendly, energetic, funny, and creative. Her hobbies included cross stitching, crafting, fishing, playing the piano, and collecting antiques. She also developed a strong interest in genealogy, conducting extensive research on both her own family and the Spivey family.
Above all, Mary treasured her family. She took great pride in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, considering them her most valued accomplishment.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents: Virgil and Mary Brown, her husband: Robert in Feb of this year, one brother: William Brown, two sisters: Jackie Beshears, Lillie Jane Latham and one great-grandchild: Aven Gray Butler.
Survivors include: one son: Robert Spivey, Jr. and his wife Carla of Independence, Mississippi, one daughter: Sherry Spivey of Forrest City, six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family will hold a memorial service Saturday, May 23rd, at 2:00 P.M. at the Colt Community Center.
