Matthew Cullen Mays

Matthew Cullen Mays, 29, a resident of Wynne, departed this life, Thursday, September 21, 2023, in Wynne. He was born, July 8, 1994, the son of Barry Wayne and Amber Wells Simpson Mays. He married Miss April Samantha Franks, December 28, 2022.

Matt was a 2013 Graduate of Cross County High School and received his CDL license after attending Tech school. He has been employed at the City of Wynne Public Works Department for the last 2 years. Matt was a Dallas Cowboys fan, enjoyed gaming, Heavy Metal music, his 1986 Chevy Blazer, Louisiana Hot Sauce and his hair. Matt was a big “goofball” who loved his family and was very generous, selfless caring teddy bear. He touched the lives of more people than he ever realized. His greatest accomplishment was his family, he was born to be a Dad. His presence will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather: Enos Mays, Jr. and great grandmother: Earlene Scoggins.

Survivors include his parents Barry and Amber Mays of Wynne, wife: April Mays of Wynne, one son: West Mays of the home, three daughters: Maelynn Mays, Rayleigh Mays and unborn, Matty Leann Mays all of the home, three sisters: Jessica Silver and husband Zachary of Wynne, Brittni Heinrichs and husband Ricky of Lonsdale, Merrie Pruitt and husband Adam of Marion, Mamaw: Betty Mays of Wynne, Aunt and Uncle Rita and John Dean of Wynne, cousins: LeAmber Parker and husband Drew of Wynne, Alyssa Dean of Jonesboro and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 26, from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at the Wynne Assembly of God Church. Funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. at the church with burial following in Vanndale Cemetery.
