Michael Jerry Poindexter

Michael Jerry Poindexter, 58, a resident of Cherry Valley, departed this life, Thursday, October 7, 2021, at home with his family by his side.  He was born in Rochelle, Illinois, the son of Jerry and Elizabeth South Poindexter.

Mike was a 1981 graduate of Wynne High School and worked as a landscaper in Florida before moving back to Wynne, where he worked as a cook for Kelly’s restaurant and for Johnson’s Fish House. He loved watching and talking about all sports especially football, but enjoyed basketball and baseball also. He was a Miami Dolphin and Arkansas Razorback fan. Mike was a hard worker and good natured, “one of a kind” kinda guy, he could be a little grouchy, but always in a good way.  He was always willing to help others, but most of all he was family oriented. He loved spending time with all his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father; Jerry Poindexter and step father; Larry Andrews.

Michael is survived by his longtime friend; Cheryl of Tulsa, Oklahoma, mother; Liz Andrews of the home, two sons; Mikie Poindexter, II and wife Haley of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Stevie Poindexter and wife Tosha of Judsonia, two daughters; Elizabeth Poindexter Lexington, South Carolina, Brianna Poindexter of Wichita, Kansas, one brother; Scottie Andrews of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, five sisters; Teresa Hill of Cherry Valley, Gena Hatfield of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Angie Vanleuven of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Sherry Wilkerson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Laura Andrews of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, five grandchildren; Ricky Poindexter, Nevaeh Poindexter, Ariel, Jaden and Jace English. 

Graveside services for Mike will be held, Monday, October 11, at 10:00 a.m. at the Vanndale Cemetery.
