Nona Fay Hixon passed away peacefully at home at the age of 83 on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 in Pine Tree. She was born on February 3, 1939 in Caldwell Arkansas to Raymond and Verna Lee Hollman Brown.
Fay attended Forrest City and graduated in 1957. She married James Albert Hixon on June 16, 1957 and together they had three children. She was a self-employed hairdresser for many years and also went to nursing homes to do some of the resident’s hair for several of those years. Fay was a charter member of the Pine Tree Baptist Church and loved the Lord. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, playing cards, telling jokes, cooking and was famous for her wonderful homemade fried pies. Fay always looked forward to cooking a big Christmas breakfast for the kids, grandkids and eventually great grand kids. She loved her family very much, all who knew her will miss her.
Mrs. Hixon was preceded in death by her husband of forty-four years: James Hixon, brothers: Bill, Morgan, Rudolph, and Jack Brown, and Pete Fussell, sisters: Martha Hite, Reatha McCurley, and granddaughter: Sarah Hixon.
Fay is survived by one son: Chuck Hixon and wife Melonie of Pine Tree, two daughters: Lisa Hixon of Pine Tree, LeAnn McMickle and husband Harold of Jonesboro, six grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Saturday, July 23, at 11:00 a.m. at the Pine Tree Baptist Church with Harold McMickle officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. also at the Pine Tree Baptist Church. Burial will take place in Barnishaw Cemetery in Pine Tree. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be made to the Barnishaw Cemetery in care of Jimmy Ray McKee, 7038 Hwy 306 West, Colt, AR 72326
