Opal McCartney, 91, went to be with her heavenly father, Saturday, September 7, 2024, at her home with her daughters by her side. She was born in Cabot, April 30, 1933, the daughter of Thurman and Beaulah Norman Byrd.
She was a 1951 graduate of Cabot High School and a member of Calvary Fellowship Church. Opal enjoyed decorating her home throughout the year but especially at Christmas time. She loved flower gardening, growing 34 different colors of Irises in her yard. Opal was a feisty woman but with a kind heart, she loved her family and her church.
Opal was preceded in death by her parents: Thurman and Beulah Byrd, Husband: Norman McCartney, one brother: Wayne Byrd, one sister: Audrey Whaley.
Survivors include her two daughters: Paula Hollis of North Little Rock, Shelia Adams and husband Paul of Forrest City, three grandchildren: Erika (Chris) Abram, Allana Adams, Zac Adams, three great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
The family will hold private services.
