Richard Tapley Obituary

Richard Henry Tapley, 86, a lifelong resident of Wynne, departed this life, Friday, March 31, 2023, at home with his family by his side. He was born, October 16, 1936, in Wynne, the son of Jesse James Tapley, Sr. and Cornelia Ann Thomas Tapley.

He was a graduate of Wynne High School, farmed his own land, was an OTR truck driver before going into business with his brother-in-law operating E & R Diesel Repair Shop. He was a smart man with a great sense of humor. Richard treated his children-in-laws as if they were his own. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, tending to his pecan trees and spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Betty "Casalman" Tapley, two brothers: Jesse Tapley, Jr. and Infant, Dan Tapley, two sisters: Geneva Tapley and Dorothy Brown, brothers-in-law: Ed Watson, Ray Brown, and Lesley  South.

Survivors include one son: Ronald Tapley and wife Joy of Searcy, two daughters: Sheila Woodle and husband Fell of Vanndale, Becky Gahr and husband Jeff of Wynne, two sisters: Frances South, Beatrice Watson both of Wynne, five grandchildren: Kriste Jarrett, Hollie Ray, Jess Tapley, Kendra LeFleur, and Meagan Gahr, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

No services will be held at this time.
