Sallie Ann Reece, 81, a resident of West Memphis, went to be with her Heavenly Father, Monday, September 23, 2024, in Memphis, Tennessee. She was born, December 30, 1942, in Wynne, the daughter of Harry William and Maude Pauline Minnie Luplow. She married Mr. Steven Ray Reece on September 17, 1976.
She was a 1961 graduate of Parkin High School and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of Memphis. Sallie began her teaching career in Parkin, where she taught for about five years, before taking a job at East Junior High School in West Memphis. She taught here for 30 plus years and was inducted in the schools “Hall of Fame”. Sallie was a great advocate for her students by helping many of them continue to “move forward” and keeping her classroom stocked with food for the kids in need, before it was popular to do so.
Sallie was a big Razorback fan; she was known for speaking her mind and always stood with the underdogs. Her greatest joy in life was her grandchildren, attending any activity they were involved with and cheering them on. She enjoyed taking them to Disney World and just being with them.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Harry and Maude Luplow, one son: Jimmy Richardson, Jr., two brothers; Billy Luplow and Rollie Luplow.
Sallie is survived by her husband of Forty-eight years: Steve Reece of West Memphis, two sons: Jeremy Reece and his wife Elizabeth of West Memphis, Mory Richardson and his wife Debbie of Edmond, Oklahoma, eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and her dog: Lily.
