Sandra Kay Matthews, aged 72, was a cherished resident of Jonesboro who departed this life on Sunday, March 8, 2026, following a courageous and lengthy battle. Now, she rests peacefully. Sandra was born on June 2, 1953, in Memphis, Tennessee, the beloved daughter of Roy and Mary Glen Hamrick Matthews.
Sandra graduated from Parkin High School in 1972. Throughout her professional life, she served as a purchasing agent for Dupont and later worked as a CNA at Crestpark. In her free time, Sandra enjoyed bowling, camping, riding motorcycles, traveling, and spending time at the beach. She was known for her vibrant sense of humor and her spirited personality, often described as having a "firecracker side." Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Mary Matthews, her son Danny Lee Baker II, and her sister Patricia Storekel.
She is survived by her son, David Baker of Jonesboro; her brother, Roy Matthews of Cherry Valley; her sister, Linda Casalman and husband Glenn of Vanndale; two grandchildren, Julian Pierce and Katherine Baker; as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
