Thomas Lee Sheppard, 73, a resident of Vanndale, went home to be with his Heavenly Father, Saturday, April 26, 2025. He was born on November 24, 1951, in Hammond, Louisiana, the son of Fred Robert and Eva Mae Howell Sheppard. He married Ms. Sandra Kay Smith Henry on March 23, 1991.
He graduated from High School in Gonzales, Louisiana and worked as a Riverboat Captain for many years before retiring. Tommy was a member of the Vanndale Baptist Church and volunteered at Living Waters Ministry ministering while playing chess with the guys. He enjoyed telling fish stories, fishing, hunting and watching old westerns. He was a kind and caring husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Tommy was preceded in death by his parents: Fred and Eva Sheppard, one son: Michael Henry, two brothers: Edward and Freddie Sheppard, one grandchild: Robin Henry and one great Grandchild: Riley Dickens.
Survivors include his wife of thirty-four years: Sandra Sheppard of the home, four sons: Casey Sheppard, Bruce Sheppard both of Saint Amant, Louisiana, Billy Henry, Jr of Cherry Valley, Jason Henry of Dutchtown, Louisiana, one daughter: Tanya Dickens of Cherry Valley, one brother: Billy Sheppard of Gonzales, Louisiana, one sister: Patty LeBeau of Saint Amant, Louisiana, nineteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family will hold a memorial service, Monday, May 5, at 5:00 p.m. at the Vanndale Baptist Church. Inurnment will take place in New River United Methodist Church Cemetery in Acy, Louisiana at a later date.
