Carol Ward, a resident of Colt, Arkansas, went to be with her Lord, Friday, April 30, 2021, at the Forrest City Medical Center with her family by her side. She was born, August 19, 1939, in Marianna, the daughter of the late Andrew Jackson and Iris June Westerfield Key. Carol married Mr. Charles J. Ward in March of 1979.
Carol was a longtime member of the New Prospect Baptist Church. She earned her Associates of Science Nursing degree after having her children. While attending Nursing school, she worked a full-time job and raised her children. Carol was a member of the original medical team that pioneered home health in Forrest City and surrounding communities, later becoming Director of Nursing of Arkansas Home Health & Hospice. She retired from nursing around 2000, then went to work at the Dollar Tree just to stay in contact with people. When she wasn’t working, she enjoyed listening and singing Christian music, reading and bird watching. Carol was a very sweet and caring Mother and Nurse; she will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Carol is survived by one son; Gene Lilly of Colt, five daughters; Veronica Larson of Stoughton, Wisconsin, Rebecca Lilly of Little Rock, Amanda Lilly of Colt, Norma Halford of Oran Missouri and Cathleen Donohue of Dexter, Missouri, one brother; David Trifon of Woodland, Texas, one sister Doris Walls of California, twenty grandchildren and twenty-five great grandchildren and a host of other friends and relatives.
Visitation will be held, Tuesday, May 4, from 10:00 a.m. until service time at 11:00 at the New Prospect Baptist Church in Colt. Funeral will begin at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will follow in Loughridge Cemetery.
